The Great Sphinx is one of the world's largest and oldest statues, but basic facts about it, such as who was the model for the face, when it was built, and by whom, are still debated.
Despite conflicting evidence and viewpoints over the years, the traditional view held by modern Egyptologists at large remains that the Great Sphinx was built in approximately 2500 BC by the pharaoh Khafra, the builder of the second pyramid at Giza. So approximately 4,500 years ago.

The Sphinx IS NOT IN THE BIBLE! Not everything is in the bible! Although it has little information about Egypt because of Moses, it's HEBREW! I am a Catholic and that does not mean that the bible is worthless as it gives information about the JEWISH and CHRISTIAN faiths! Not the Egyptian MYTHS!

The oldest known sphinx was found in Gobekli Tepe, Turkey and was dated to 9,500 BC. There are dozens of sphinx all over the world! I'm assuming you refer to the Great Sphinx in Giza. Although it is arguable, it is most likely built around 2500 BC by pharaoh Kharfra, the same pharaoh who built the 2nd Pyramid in Giza.
