Should there be a charity operated EMS and Rescue service, specializing in Opiate and drug overdoses ?

Some lawmakers in Ohio are considering a 3 strikes law, where if you overdoses twice, you have to do community service to work off the cost of the Rescue service...

OR they will not respond to your 3rd 911 call for Opiate overdose.

In the case that such a lawyer is passed..

Should there be a charity organization that does EMS and Fire/Rescue service, specializing ONLY in Opiate overdoses..

Bypassing the monetary cost to the Government, and treating Opiate overdoses and getting the patients to the hospital ?

I believe that there should be some kind of a law that after EMS has assisted you three times in a row with an opiate overdose that becomes an automatic Baker or Myers Act and the police pick you up and put you into recovery center for a year if that would happen that would be the end of people misusing the system it's also possible now to go to the drugstore and to get opium overdose kits without a prescription

No, I don't believe there should be a charity for this, but I don't believe there should be a 3 strike rule either. ALL people should be treated equally no matter what the emergency is. Also, I'm pretty sure that in this day in age, all first responders DO carry Nacan. I don't live in Ohio, but I do live in MI. When someone has overdosed, that person is NOT the person who's making the call. Someone else is, and no EMS service could possibly know if the person who's overdosed has overdosed 10 times before, or if it's the first time. I happen to have an adult Son who's in RECOVERY and I personally know of many people who have overdosed and have been saved countless times and some of them now have YEARS of sobriety under their belt. There is no time limit as to when a person decides to STAY IN RECOVERY long term, but the number of overdoses prior to that doesn't really matter. What matters is that they LIVED so that they could have another chance TO LIVE. Here in MI, we do have programs that can help drug addicted people at no cost. It's called the Hope Not Handcuffs program. I know this really doesn't have anything to do with your question, but it's my opinion that programs as such should be offered Nation wide.

I think if you overdose, the EMS should juist stay away, AND you Medical Insurance for drug related calls should be cancelled

No. There is already enough charity for drug abusers.
